Why did Team XSAMA join GTMA?

Tournaments

By joining GTMA, our students will have the opportunity to compete in tournaments that are "closed" circuit. A closed circuit tournament is a tournament that only members of GTMA are allowed to attend. This makes the judging of the competitors more fair because all of the competitors in a division, or competition ring will do the same GSHIM patterns.

Tournaments are important for the following reasons:

  1. Students get to test their skills
  2. Tournaments are bonding moments. Students will get to meet new friends that they may only see when attending tournaments.
  3. Tournaments help students overcome fears by forcing the student out of their comfort zone.
  4. Tournaments can help students stay motivated to train harder than normal.

 Community

Some of my (MC's) best and longest friends are ones that I met and competed against at tournaments. Some of these friends I've know since I was a white belt in ATA (American Taekwondo Association) many many moons ago. I may have only seen these friends when I went to tournaments, but long time friends they became.

Nationally Recognized Promotions

Our students will now get belt rank promotion certificates from both Team XSAMA and GTMA. This is important because if a students moves and there's a GTMA school in the area, that student will maintain their belt rank.

Shadow Moogi

Pre-School Program

(XSAMA Rising Stars)

The Shadow Moogi was created by award winning children’s content developers, professional teachers, and world champion martial arts instructors. This GTMA program aims to teach young children the importance of martial arts alongside crucial life skills focusing on communication and personal responsibility. From out of the shadows, new martial artists train alongside young dragons needing skills to become real! Fun, energetic, and immersive, your child will fall in love with the Shadow Moogis AND Taekwondo along the way!

Dragon Squad

Elementary Program

(XSAMA Rising Star Elites / XS students up to 13 years)

After the Shadow Moogi student learns the basics of becoming a martial artist, their dragons become “real” as they both graduate into the Dragon Squad. This GTMA program is a stepping-stone towards the Teen/Adult Program. The dragon characters from the Shadow Moogis grow up with your child, continuing the bond they share and remaining by their sides as they train to adolescence. Your child will be introduced to more complex physical training and more in-depth life skills as their ability to comprehend increases.

GTMA Athlete

Teen and Adult Progra

(XSAMA XS students 13 and older)

Students in the GTMA Athlete program concentrate on learning the physical and philosophical principles of GSHIM Taekwondo. At its core, taekwondo is practiced for both sport and self-defense. As students rank up through the color belt system, GTMA Athletes gain self-confidence, respect, and discipline along their journey to Black Belt. This program is appropriate for martial artists of all ages from young teens to seniors. Siblings, parents, and full families can all train together.
